I think Vreg doesn't want to release a kickstarter at this stage in the game. Reason being is that there isn't too much to show and people don't want to fund a project that you can't already play. Releasing it now would also make it appear as unfinished and that's how people would think of it for a long time.
He will start up a kickstarter on the release of deathmatch as there will be a fair bit to show and impress people. Much more funding will be brought in this way.
